You have to dye it back. There is no such thing as "undying" hair. Also, I don't suggest doing it yourself; especially when re-dying, because chemicals dry out hair. If it is not done right, you could lose your hair.

Do you not know what "permanent" means? You can't undo something that's permanent.

Um, I would leave it, eventually it will fade and become a lighter brown. Same thing happened to me.

I had black hair once. It started to grow out and looked really horible. I eventually went to the hairdresser and they put a lightening thing in my hair so it would gradually get lighter and then put a dye through it. That worked.

I saw an add in a magazine about something that strips your hair of dye but I think that it only works if you have dyed it 72 hours or earlier. Not sure what it called. Just search around.

yes you can change the color of the hair by dying or bleaching it. if you have just dyed it and then you do it again there is a possibility that it wont turn out the way you expect in result to double dying. if you choose to do this then you should have it done professionally. next time you attempt to dye your hair yourself cut out a tiny bit before hand and try that with the dye to be sure it is what you want the final product to look like

even though the dye is perminant it will grow out eventually

You CAN get the colour lifted... but it costs a fortune and leaves your hair in horrible condition. Your best bet is probably to wait a bit and see if you change your mind about it. If you hate it, get your hair cut shorter and wait a few months, then cut it short again, until you've cut out all the black hair. That's what I did when I dyed my hair black.
Officially fabulous, and practically perfect in every way.

On a side note, may I stress the importance of test strands?

I never dye my hair without first testing a bit under most of my hair to make sure its what I want.
The directions probably included some sort of strand test instructions too.

If I'm trying a new dye I also do a skin spot test, on my inner wrist, because I have had allergic reactions to dyes before.
