    Default Ear Piercings and Swimming

    *Ads Disappear After 100 Posts*
    Hi,

Today I went out and got an ear piercing, completely forgetting that I wil be swimming alot over the holidays, including an event I have on this coming Saturday (few days time)

I was wondering, are there any health risks involved with swimming and fresh ear piercings?

i doubt it, my buddy got his eyebrow pierced like 3 days before he started diving, and nothing happened :-P so am guessing you are gonna be ok, just keep it clean i guess

usually for competive swimming, at least at my high school swim meets you'll get disqualified if you have any jewlry on. I dont know if you swim competivly or not, or if they disqalify you for that though.

the chlorine water might affect the piercing a bit. it shouldn't be a problem, just continue to clean the piercing as directed and keep an eye on it, so you'll know if its getting to dry or getting really crusty or puss-y or something.
    right now.

    hey.
i got my helix pierced recently, and not long ago my sister had her navel pierced.
we both swim extensively and have never had any problems.
just make sure you take good care of your piercing (no matter what others say about their products, simple salty water is the best!) and you'll be fine! in fact, small doses of the chemicals in pool water may even help keep the piercing clean as long as you wash it out after swimming.
but if you notice your jewellery going a funny colour, that's another story.

Any advice I give is general only, and you can't seriously expect anyone on an online forum to diagnose you or give real medical advice.
See a doctor. That's the only way you can get a real answer about you and your situation.

That said, I'll try to help out in answering general medical questions where I can.
